Nancy asks…
Traveling from Miami (FL) to San Fransisco (CA) by car?
Me and my girlfriend are looking for adventure this summer, and we had the idea to travel through the USA from the east coast to the west. We are living in Hungary (Europe) so we are not really familiar with the possibilities in the States.
We plan to do this journey by car.
Our first idea was to rent one, but when we saw the prices we realized that we cannot afford that. It seems the car rental companies adds extra fees when you don’t return the car on the same place as it was taken from. Is there a way to avoid this extra fee somehow?
Our other idea was to buy a cheap car (max $2000) in Miami and then sell it in San Fransisco, but I don’t know whether it’s possible for a non citizen, and also have no idea how to deal with the insurances.
Any idea is welcome
.
Thank you in advance,
B. Peter

I don’t think buying car would be cheaper as well as easy thing to do. The distance you are planning to travel is a very large one as it is near about 3,000 miles so you need a good car to travel so that you won’t spend half of the time getting repaired your car. Hiring a descent car would be helpful for you as you will not have to pay big amount of money also you can travel easily without any much hassles. You can look up to hire a good car with great mileage at http://www.pointcarhire.com/ . They offer great service at nominal rates also you are in for some good discounts as you are hiring car for longer duration.
