Macau

Michael Macau

Michael asks…

does anyone know any Motel in Macau for backpack travelers?

I’m going to Macao this 18th-20th march
any help will be very much appreciated

Players Club Tours answers:

Macao is not a backpacking destination. You will find the city to be extremely expensive.

If you wish to control your costs, then it is wiser to visit Macao as a day trip and spend your nights in the mainland.

Ken asks…

What should I do in San Jose, Costa Rica?

Im going to San Jose, Costa rica for 2 nights, what should I do when Im there? Any shopping, eating, drinking advice would be appreciated!!!

What area of San Jose should I stay in?
COSTA RICA, not california

full square brown cropped Tours Costa Rica San Jose

Players Club Tours answers:

I know that San Jose does get a bad rap and is not the perfect town, however, there is a lot of awesome things one can see on the local culture, which is a another side of Costa Rica that few have ventured into..

You see a local play at the Teatro Nacional de Costa Rica – http://www.teatronacional.go.cr/

Your can take the Costa Rica Art Tour in San Jose where you view local artists and their works – http://www.costaricaarttour.com/. This is pretty cool if you like art. You get a local meal, group tours are small, and they provide transportation.

You can go to Costa Rica Natural Museums, where you can view historical interest, gold and jade displays and more http://www.museocostarica.go.cr/. This is very awesome, I took my teenage boys to this a few years back and they loved it.

There are a ton of great places to eat, go to the below link from yahoo

http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-2770641-san_jose_restaurants-i

Personally, if you got a few bucks to spend and want a eating orgy of meats go to El Mejor, but you will need reservations

As for shopping, Metro Central and Mall Mult Plaza, and the farmers market (but be careful here, this place get packed and a lot of pickpockets etc)

I hope this helps

Enjoy the other side of Costa Rica and in San Jose…

Macau Tourism Board

Thomas Macau Tourism Board

Thomas asks…

what are other routes to get to macua besides hong kong?

I found that traveling to hong hong is expensive so i need to check out other routes

full square brown cropped Macau Tourism Board

Players Club Tours answers:

Are you going to HK or Macau, or both? If your goal is to get to HK on the cheap, I would like to suggest a couple of ways.

One is to find a good travel agent, either online or in person, and see if you can find some air fare specials. If your dates are flexible, look at the web site http://www.zuji.com and search for your route using the flexible dates option. It’s possible that you could find a bargain to fly directly into Hong Kong. You can also achieve a similar effect by calling a travel agent with strong Hong Kong connections and asking them. For instance, I have friends who use travel agents in Chinatown in New York or San Francisco. Unfortunately, I had no access to those cities and so I was stuck with the online options.

Another thing you can do is look directly at the sites for the airlines that fly into and out of Hong Kong, which you will see when you look at the zuji site.

Another idea is to pick up a copy of a Hong Kong newspaper and look at the specials advertised in there, you might find a good deal. Some good ones to look at are South China Morning Post, International Herald Tribune (http://www.onlinenewspapers.com/hk.htm ). Unfortunately for you and me, they are not free and so your best bet if you are not in HK already is to find one in a large city library or newstand.

Yet another idea is to look at the web site for the Hong Kong Board of Tourism. Sometimes they find good tourist specials and post them on their site as a means of promoting tourism (http://www.discoverhongkong.com/usa/index.jsp) .

But okay, back to your original question. How to fly in and out of Macau? This is actually a great idea to consider. There are some notable discount airlines that fly in and out of Macau. For example, Bangkok is a major S.E. Asia hub. If you can catch a cheap flight to Bangkok (especially likely if you are coming through Europe), you can fly on AirAsia straight into Macau. Wow, Airasia is a really great bargain (http://www.airasia.com) . Tiger Airways also flies in and out of Macau, as does Singapore Air (I think). You may be able to find a real bargain on one of these airlines. Here is a list of the airlines that fly in and out of Macau: http://www.macau-airport.com/en/h05/02_airlines.php so you can go to each airline’s web page and see what they offer.

Bear in mind, however, that if you fly into Macau with the HK destination in mind, you will still be an hour’s ferry ride from HK at a time when you’ll be jet lagged and exhausted. It also will cost you roughly 150 Hong Kong Dollars each way to get from Macau to HK, so you have to add in the cost and the inconvenience. However, hotels in Macau are a good bit cheaper than those in HK, so it could be a good place just to crash, break in easily, and sleep some jet lag. (And the airport express MTR in HK is just as expensive as the ferry ride from Macau.)

Ibiza Hotels

Michael Ibiza Hotels

Michael asks…

Good four star hotel in makati philippines?

Hi can you recommend a good hotel in makati near greenbelt maybe? Where you can smoke inside the room ? And. With swimming pool also… Probably a 100euros /night ??? Pls answer! Tnx!

full square brown cropped Ibiza Hotels

Players Club Tours answers:

Absolutely, until 3* is good not less otherwise you will be mix with ordinary undesirable people
@Those who made comments about stars in hotels, nobody could put themselves the stars without international convention, otherwise it’s a violation to international regulations.
Stars are distributed according to the service, and technically there are some international controllers to check hotels especially if they are chain hotels like, ” Holiday Inn, Ramada, Radisson, Intercon, Sofite, Ibiza, Novotel, Hilton. These are just example of hotels that would never put their own stars without any international approvation. These hotels held their international convention to update and review their regulation if they merit or not to have stars, if service has a lot of complains they gain or lose their stars.

Solo travelers! Where have you gone outside the U.S. that was fun for you?

What things did you do there? What made it fun for you?
Sorry, everyone – posted this in the wrong section! But if you feel like humoring me…

Players Club Tours answers:

This past summer I toured Spain solo. It was a blast! I made a few friends in Barcelona and we ended up hanging out for two weeks. I went to Zaragoza, Gibraltar, Madrid, Ibiza, and several other places. I took in all the sites and partied all night. The best part of the trip were the people I met. I had so much fun that I am going on another 3-week solo trip to Europe in March.

Travel Tour Operators Insurance

Helen Travel Tour Operators Insurance

Helen asks…

Do I really need travel insurance? What I really want is a concierge? Who do you recommend?

I am going on a hiking trip with my family. If I wanted to be medically evacuated back to the US, I would probably buy that insurance, but do I need the other things like trip cancellation insurance? Last time we went, our tour operator ‘forgot’ to book one of the rooms and we still got stuck with the cost and with negotiating the room with the innkeeper, so it didn’t do us any good to have the insurance.

full square brown cropped Travel Tour Operators Insurance

Players Club Tours answers:

You are right. Travel Insurance would typically cover only emergencies and ‘acts of god’ [medically evacuated back to the US would be an example]. Some policies however do cover Trip Cancellation. However, you may have to check the fine print. Click on Free Policy Quote engine on the following website to read policy details online

Turkey Honeymoon?

My Fiancee and I are getting married in Greece (Santorini) in September. We are thinking about going to Turkey for part of our honeymoon. Can you please recommend nice beach locations for a honeymoon in Turkey. We would perhaps spend a day or two in Istanbul on our way out of the country.

Thanks in advance!

full square brown cropped Greece Beaches Santorini

Players Club Tours answers:

September is a great time to be in the Mediterranean or the Aegean costs of Turkey. The weather will be very nice ; hot but not bothersome days and cooler nights.

Since you will be on your honeymoon, I can suggest you a Blue Cruise on the coasts where you can enjoy a relaxing trip in the turquoise waters.

Meanwhile, check out :

I can suggest you to start your cruise from Marmaris, which is a very lively yet hassle free summer town in Aegean coast where the green mountains meet the sea.

Scuba Diving New Zealand

Mandy Scuba Diving New Zealand

Mandy asks…

Which country in the Asia Pacific would be good to relocate for a scuba dive master job?

Which country in the Asia Pacific would be good to relocate for a scuba dive master job?

Southern Japan, Philippines, Thailand, New Zealand, etc etc etc ??

full square brown cropped Scuba Diving New Zealand

Players Club Tours answers:

My personal preference would be:

1) Thailand
2) Philippines
3) Malaysia

In that order

It’s not so much that Thailand has the best environment for DMs, but that compared to other SE Asian countries it is one of the better developed dive industries. You also have the option of diving West or East Coasts in Thailand, depending on the monsoon season. You also have a steady stream of tourists to keep the pipeline going.

Malaysia is not as famous for their sites (and its a bit more expensive than Thailand). In my opinion getting to dive sites in the Philippines can be difficult because you have to either ferry or fly from island to island. This limits your clientele base.

Japan and NZ are fantastic, but you might find the limited income of a DM to be tough going in those two countries. Your money will go further in Thailand.
